This is running the latest RetroPie, we have decided to switch on over to RetroPie due to some technical difficulties with Recalbox supporting certain HDMI hardware, after weeks of testing the software we have noticed some advantages over Recalbox . One of the major advantages is that you can easily delete and add ROMs as you wish within the main menu or folders through the computer drive instead of using an FTP service to connect, another great advantage of RetroPie is that it's had frequent updates and tends to run much smoother for certain systems without using a large amount of RAM, easy overclocking, the bezel project and other community-based downloads are also available within RetroPie

What makes this system great:

**Ability to add your own ROMs in the future if you wish
**Wireless play, game saves and loading saved data.
**Retroachievements, although when it's enabled this does conflict with PS1 running but future updates will address this issue
**Retroarch features, applying shaders, aspect ratios, record a game, modify controller settings, and much more.
**Rare and obscure titles, such as modified classics with hacks and having many requests from customers has to lead to collecting a large trove of rare gems from Japan and other regions, it is always great to try a new game you never heard of and be pleasantly surprised how amazing they are.
**Dozens of themes, beautiful bezels which fill up the side space when using widescreen monitors and TVs, giving it a polished and professional look.
**Game descriptions, ratings, release date, and many other details are displayed in the game selection menu, also includes beautiful artwork, 3D box art, screenshots, and wheel art are all built-in, you can customize the menu to your liking with the ability to change the size of wheel art, and many other fine details about displaying games in the selection area, you can also scrape box art if you add your own ROMs.
**Support for a wide selection of controller models, anything with a USB should be detectable and working, Bluetooth is also another option, Bluetooth receivers also work well and may require remapping of the buttons, but most versions are plug and play refer to Batocera.org/supported_controllers

Controller detection is a breeze for the majority of the brands including some of the popular models from 8-bitDo, Sony, and Xbox and even some of the China third party controllers are plug and play and do not require much to get them going unless you are trying to configure, if you are using a simple gamepad without joystick support then it may require some additional configurations within the individual emulator itself, especially if you are trying to play Dreamcast, n64, or PSP.

Emulation is excellent on the pi4B, B+ models without any frame rate drops or skipping, N64, PlayStation 1, and Dreamcast, and newer systems function very well but there will be some challenging N64 titles that will struggle to play 100% perfectly.The vast majority of the titles are already programmed to run smoothly with the proper emulator optimized and overclocking the unit to about 1800 MHz will significantly improve performance, when overclocking, always make sure to have at least heat sinks installed and consider having a cooling fan with the Raspberry Pi.

For a better gaming experience please consider using a 1080P display to take advantage of the many features provided by this system, please note that this version of Retropie has not been tested on 720P monitors or lower, try it at your own leisure.
